AFCON 2016: Spain Donates Equipment

The Spanish Ambassador to Cameroon, Jorge De Orueta Pemartin has handed over a consignment of sports equipment to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt representative of the Head of State.

The equipment comprising balls, jerseys and training equipment offered by the three leading Spanish clubs, Athletico Madrid, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were handed over to the Cameroon government, Friday September 2, at a ceremony at the the Yaounde Sports Complex. The package accodring to the Sapinish ambassador, is an assistance to Cameroon in the organization of the 2016 and 2019 AFCONs. Minister Bidoung Mkpatt on his part expressed gratitude to the Spanish government saying that the gift is a hallmark in Spanish-Cameroon relations in the domain of sports. He added that the equipment which comprise balls, jerseys, videos, books and other training kits will enable the national selections prepare well for the 2016 and 2019 AFCONs. The Bilateral relations between Spain and Cameroon began in 1961 and since then Spain has served as a springboard for many Cameroonian athletes such as Thomas Nkono, Idriss Carlos Kameni Samuel Eto’o and many others.
