Kumba CPDM Mends Fences, Unite To Bury Opposition

By Johnson Mbu

Disgruntled militants of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement party CPDM in Kumba have resolved to keep their differences aside and stand for their party in order to crush the opposition never to see the light of day when ever any political consultation is summoned.

The militants who have been in divided ranks since the reorganisation of the basic organs of the party in Meme took the commitment to abandon greed, hatred and infighting on Thursday,24March,2022 during celebrations marking the creation of the party some 37 years ago.

In a highly mobilized celebration at the CPDM party house that brought together the five sections of the party in Meme Division, the head of the party’s delegation, former Minister Benjamin Itoe told the militants especially those who are disgruntled due to last reorganisation and various factions in Meme IA that it is time to unite and face a common enemy which is the opposition instead of fighting among themselves.

Benjamin Itoe also said it will not benefit the party in Kumba in any way if they continue to fight one another over what he described as personal interest. He therefore called on the various camps to unite and form a strong force in order to lay the opposition to rest.

The party boss used the 37th anniversary to install the newly elected bureau of the five sections of the party urging them to work for the interest of the party and not for personal interest.

Speaking in an earlier welcome address, Kumba City Mayor Gregory Mewanu described the CPDM party as a party of development, prosperity and peace under the leadership of President Paul Biya. He also counted the achievement of the party for the past 40 years under Biya.

He equally used the address to call on his supporters to support the party CPDM for better things to come to Kumba. Mewanu said if they continue to fight each other, they will be punishing the people who elected them for nothing.

Gregory Mewanu agreed that if they bury the hatchets and unite, they’ll to bring meaningful development to Kumba and Meme division as a whole. To get this accomplished, Mewanu decided to abandon the battle with the section president for Meme IA Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia with a whom they have been fighting.

Mounting the rostrum to address the militants, the section president for Meme IA who doubles as MP for Kumba urban constituency Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia hailed Benjamin Itoe for his wisdom to unite them for the interest of the CPDM party to prevail.

He also congratulated his opponent Mewanu for his sense of maturity to accept reconciliation and peace. He urged his own supporters to give their total support to Gregory Mewanu as City Mayor, announcing to the hearing of everybody that he has no problem with Mewanu promising to stand behind him at all times.

During the event, both Mewanu and Tabot embraced each other as thus ending several months of political rivalry and animosity.
